Building Baruccio: Reflections on our first year

Our first year at Baruccio

It's almost a year since Baruccio opened its doors, and what an incredible journey it's been. When we first imagined this space—a place where people could gather over exceptional wine, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, delicious coffee and simple Italian food—we hoped it would resonate with our community. We never expected the warmth and enthusiasm we've received.

During this period, we've had the privilege of meeting remarkable people: locals who've become regulars, neighbouring business owners who've become friends, and customers who've popped by for a quick drink and then chosen to spend their entire evenings with us. There's something special about watching someone discover their new favourite spot, or spending an evening serving a group of friends for hours whilst they are having a great time over a cheese board and a few cocktails. 

What strikes us most is the genuine support we have seen from locals. You've shown up for us—not just by visiting, but by engaging with our posts, booking our events, and most importantly, by recommending us to friends and family. That word-of-mouth support is the lifeblood of what we do!

This past year has reinforced our belief that Holywell Hill thrives because of people like you—those who value authenticity, community, and the kind of spaces where real connections happen. You're helping us turn a vision into reality, and in doing so, you're helping make St Albans a great place to be.
